Our New Datacenter

The New Tech Park Data Centre offers world-class managed data services: co-location, network services, managed services including security, and disaster recovery, and a host of other services and customized facilities that meet the specific needs of our clients’ distinct requirements. The Data Center, located in New Tech Park, sits in a central location in Singapore, close to the Central Business District (CBD) and major telecommunication cable paths and landing sites. The Data Center is laid out in a 2000 square meter location.

New Tech Park is home to a number of companies in the technology, media and communications fields. The data centre itself is 850 square meters of custom-built space in an environment that conforms to a minimum Tier-3+ (Fault Tolerant Site Infrastructure) definition of the Uptime Institute.

The Singapore Data Center is a robust facility for managed data center services in many respects:

Data Center Areas • The total dedicated data center floor space is 850

Square meters • A separate dedicated data center space for PoPs and telco “meet-me” rooms that is 140 square meters • Approximate total capacity of 320 racks • All data center floor space uses anti-static raised

Flooring • Collocation service options for customers include full 42RU rack, caged area or private vault.

Power • Two (2) sets of distribution paths from source all the way to final circuits at the racks • Two (2) incoming power feeders of 2000A each • Two (2) sets of 800 kVA Isolation Transformers provide supply to the Static Bypass of all the UPSes. • Surge Arrestors for high power surges protection at Main Switchboard • Digital Electronic Power metering provision at all Main Switchboards • Manual Couplers provided at both Main and Emergency Main Switchboards to enable power transfer between normal and redundant feeds • Dual bus topology with 100% redundancy is employed to ensure maximum uptime and the possibility of concurrent maintenance without power disruption. • Main power is backed-up by a 4 x 400 kVA Uninterruptible

Power Supply System (UPS) – Liebert brand, with 15 min battery autonomy each. • Backup power is provided by Two (2) sets of 1000 kVA Generators supporting all the UPS and critical loads. with 700 Liter Day Tank, which in turn is linked to the main building fuel storage tank • Auto Transfer Switches (ATS) automatically manage switching between main power to backup power

Bui Duc Minh is just 3 years old but he has suffered from blood cancer for almost one year. Bui Duc Minh, also called as Tit by his pet name, is the 3-year–old son of Trung and Thuy who are lecturers at the National Economics University (NEU) in Hanoi, Vietnam. He has been detected to suffer blood shortage since October 2007. Though the Central Children’s Hospital (CCH) in Vietnam has conducted a wide range of tests during the four months to February 2008, the specific cause of his lack of blood remained unclear. His condition became worse in early March this year when he had a prolonged fever. The CCH tested his blood. It was found that he suffers Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML).

There is no cure for this type of cancer in Vietnam, doctors at the hospital said. Thus, sending him to Singapore for treatment is the best way to save his life because AML progresses rapidly and is typically fatal if left untreated. Nonetheless, the disease is potentially curable for little sufferers despite that a lot of money and effort are required. When Trung and Thuy decided to take him to Singapore for special treatment in March 2008, the amount of white blood cells in his body had already reached 95% of his blood. His life seemed to be leaving him.

The only treatment that can improve Minh’s life costs 200,000SGD, is beyond Trung and Truy’s financial capabilities. Minh is a currently in Singapore’s National University Hospital. The Hospital’s Needy Patients’ Programme called “BMT 4 Kids”* (Blood and Marrow Transplant for Kids) is a charity programme that helps ill children who have cancer, blood and genetic diseases with their medical treatment and costs. It also aims to raise awareness and funds for the Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) programme.

There is still a shortage of $60,000 to $70,000 for the operation expenses. The father, Mr Trung has already sold off his house in Vietnam and they are doing their best to raise the remaining funds for Minh’s operation. I am told that without this operation, Minh’s chances of survival are about 25%. Given a bone marrow operation, his survival chances are around 70-80%.
